Music Supervisor for dance videos
September 20, 2004
Robin has just finished a stint as Music Supervisor for a series of instructional dance videos featuring award-winning choreographer Terry Schulke. The videos will be released by Dance 90210 in November 2004. Robin gathered over 120 songs from independent songwriters and recording artists to submit for consideration on the project. After reviewing them all, Terry chose four tracks to be featured in the videos. Two of them were by Robin's songwriting student, Carla Holden. Congratulations, Carla!

Robin charts at GarageBand.com
Posted: June 6, 2004
Since the demise of MP3.com, we've been looking for a new community of independent artists where we could post some of Robin's music. GarageBand.com fits the bill. This is a very active site for indie artists with a well-thought-out competition based on peer reviews. We entered Robin's song O Sleeper, O Outsider and ended up at #28 on the Pop Charts! Lots of good reviews (and, of course, a few others who just didn't get it.) If you're an indie recording artist, this is a great place to get your songs heard, meet other artists, and review tons of new music.
Hederos & Hellberg release 'Been Smoking Too Long" in the U.S.

A CD of stripped-down piano/vocal covers of Velvet Underground's "Pale Blue Eyes," Bob Dylan's "You're A Big Girl Now," Tom Waits' "Soldiers Things," Love's "Signed D.C." and, yes, Robin's "Been Smoking Too Long" recorded by Martin Hederos & Mattias Hellberg is now available here in the U.S. A poll of 60 Swedish newspapers in 2000 (the year of its European release) ranked Hederos & Hellberg's album the #3 release of the year! In the U.S. the duo has gained a reputation among musicians like Ryan Adams who picked Hederos & Hellberg as the opening act for his 2002 Euro tour. You can find out more at the Parasol Records website or buy it at Amazon.com. It's a great album. We've been playing it non-stop!

This is the story...

Bridget St. John released three remarkable albums in the early 1970's on John Peel's legendary Dandelion label and a fourth on the Chyrsalis label. She was voted one of England's Top Five Female vocalists in 1972, then dropped from sight. There was an album of previously unreleased tracks in 1995 but nothing more until her current duet on Robin Frederick's Blue Flame CD. Read the story of how Robin and Bridget recorded this unusual duet across 3000 miles and renewed a friendship that began in the heyday of British folk-rock, listen to streaming audio or download a two minute sample: This Is The Story.
